You Must Have Your Own Weapon!
22 At that time I also said to the people, “Have every man and his helper stay inside Jerusalem at night, so they can serve us as guards by night and as workers by day.”
23 Neither I nor my brothers nor my men nor the guards with me took off our clothes; each had his weapon, even when he went for water.
The New International Version (Ne 4:22–23). (2011). Zondervan.
For years in the church community, I’ve heard people share with other Christians some of their struggles and challenges. Usually they’ll say to those with whom they share their situation, “Pray for me.” This is scriptural, we should pray for one another. But… there will be times when you’ll have to pray for yourself. You’ll have to fight by yourself. You’ll have to contend with the enemy one-on-one with the help of the Spirit of God. In essence, everyone has to have their own weapon! Just as the builders who worked on refurbishing the walls of Jerusalem had their weapon, you must have your weapon and be willing to fight if the enemy attacks!
