“Get busy living or get busy dying”. Those words were spoken by Red, a character in the movie Shawshank Redemption, played by Morgan Freeman. After a lifetime of being behind bars, he was finally paroled, only to find himself very much out of place on the outside. He had considered suicide like another inmate (Brooks), who had also been paroled after 50 years in prison, but Brooks made the decision to commit suicide after not being able to adjust to life on the outside. After much contemplation, Red made the decision to get busy living.
Sometimes life takes us by storm. We’re going one way, but life pushes us in the opposite direction and we often wonder, “How did I get here”? There are times where you want to just check-out, and leave it all behind. Maybe it is by harming yourself or maybe it’s just the resignation that life isn’t going to change, so you quit. You quit dreaming, you quit trying, and you just watch life pass right on by. The hours turn to days, months turn to years. It’s like sitting on the porch watching the sun go down. It happens so subtly that you don’t realize it’s gone until the fireflies come out to light up the night.
I encourage you today to get busy living. Don’t let life pass you by. Don’t check-out on life. Don’t let the sun set on your life without you taking part in YOUR life. Get busy living. Trust your gut. Get out there and LIVE! The world is waiting for you.
Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That’s the most sensible way to serve God. Romans 12:1 CEV
Love you to life!
